History
Mr. Luis I. Roig Franceschini, or DON LUIS, grew up in the mountainous area of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, where his father José Luis Roig Olivieri, owned a farm where coffee and other products were cultivated. Ever since the 1950’s Don Luis, has maintain the way coffee was cultivated and processed. In 1985, Don Luis officially began his journey into the coffee business when he purchased about 3 acres of land in the Indiera Alta area of Maricao, PR. Later on Don Luis acquired an additional 15 acres where the combination of altitude, soil and weather was the perfect combination for Arabica coffee production. Over the years, the love he had for his land didn’t waiver and Don Luis continued to expand and acquire additional farms in Aguas Blancas and Rio Prieto in Yauco, PR, where he currently owns 168 acres of cultivated Arabica coffee.
In 2010, his passion for developing high quality coffee led him to establish his own ecofriendly processing plant, there the best beans are selected to produce Café Don Luis. It is there where the green coffee is processed and distributed to several shops on the island, where they only consume high quality products.
